Delays Hit New Company Registrations
10/11/2009
Companies House has admitted it is currently experiencing a backlog of delays in registering new companies, following changes to its forms and electronic filing systems last month.
Under changes introduced in the 2006 Companies Act, which came into force on 1 October, all existing forms have been replaced, and new features have been added to the online filing system. The time limit for filing accounts has also been reduced from 10 months to nine.
Companies House has admitted that its staff have taken longer than expected to get to grips with the requirement of the Act, but added that it had substantially increased the size of the team dealing with incorporation work, and aimed to have the backlog of documents cleared soon.
