PAYE Payslip Errors Highlighted
28/04/2009
Harris Lipman is advising its clients to use their 2009/10 payslip booklets as normal, despite an error in some booklets, which led to fears that payments could be allocated to the wrong month or even the wrong tax year.
In the affected booklets, the reference number printed on the main part of each payslip is not complete – for example month one written as “123 PA 00456789” instead of the correct “123 PA 00456789 1001”.
However, the ‘codelines’ at the bottom of each slip – used to banks and post offices – do feature the correct numbers. As a result payments can be processed as normal, and HM Revenue and Customs will be able to allocate them to the correct account.
