JOHN CULLEN FCCA FABRP

Having completed a music degree, John decided that a career in finance was the right choice for him, and initially worked in the audit department of a firm of accountants in the West End of London. He chose to remain in their insolvency department at the end of a three-month secondment, and went on to work for a number of firms before joining Harris Lipman in 1997.

He qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant and, having chosen to help develop Harris Lipman’s Cardiff office, moved to South Wales in August 2001 and qualified as a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner. He now manages the team in Cardiff, and on 4 April 2005 was appointed a member of Harris Lipman LLP. In 2004, John was elected President of the South Wales Network of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He is currently Chairman of the Wales Panel of the ACCA and one of its International Assembly members. He is also a lecturer for the UK200Group, providing training in insolvency matters to other accountants.

John is head of the Corporate Recovery and Insolvency Department. John also represents ACCA on the Joint Insolvency Committee, the main standard setting body for insolvency practitioners. In addition, he is a member of ACCA’s Insolvency Technical Committee, maintaining an extensive knowledge of the regulatory system for insolvency practice.
