Harris Lipman Branches out into Oxford

A well-established firm of chartered accountants and insolvency practitioners is expanding into Oxford, bringing its philosophy of excellent customer service and long-term client relationships to the city.

Harris Lipman was established as a one-man practice in 1954 and has since grown to an 11-partner firm with a team of over 60 members of staff and offices in London and Cardiff. It offers a full range of business services including accounts, audit, tax planning and tax compliance, together with corporate recovery and insolvency services.

Throughout its history, the core values of founder Soloman Lipman – total client involvement, a friendly working environment and an emphasis on client service – have remained unchanged.

The firm’s new Thames Valley office in East Point Business Park, Oxford, will be headed up by Martin Atkins.

He said: “The concept of being part of a firm that puts the client at the centre of its operations and focuses on building long term relationships really appeals to me. This, together with a commitment to develop me as a professional is the reason I joined the practice back in 2003.

“Now, as a partner, I have the opportunity to bring that philosophy to my own local business community, and this is something that I’m very excited about.

“Oxford is a vibrant city and, while not totally immune to the recent recession, businesses have continued to prosper and new companies are being set up all the time.

Harris Lipman is also a member of the UK200Group, a mutual association of independent accountancy and lawyer firms, giving it access to the expertise of other members in the UK and associate members overseas. UK200Group membership also means the firm undergoes an annual independent review to ensure it is continuing to meet the association’s challenging standards.

Last year, the firm was shortlisted for the prestigious Accountancy Age Awards in the ‘Medium Firm of the Year’ category.
