Accountants Boost Cancer Charity With Coffee Morning
15/01/2009
London chartered accountants Harris Lipman have handed over hundreds of pounds to a leading cancer charity following a fundraising coffee morning.
The team at Harris Lipman, which has a long-standing policy of supporting good causes, held the event for MacMillan Cancer Support and raised £325, which was matched by the partners to make a grand total of £650.
Kim Eary, an administrator at the firm and a committee member of the Harris Lipman Fun Fund – to which the firm contributes every month to support staff outings and events, such as a Christmas meal – said: “Colleagues paid to ‘dress down’ for the day and we served authentic cafétiere coffee and cakes.
“We also had a raffle, with prizes including a meal for two. One of the prizes was a car parking space at our head office car park, which are always in short supply, for a week, which the winner, Timothy Gunn, then auctioned off to raise extra money.”
Partner Martin Atkins said: “As a firm, we donate at least £300 month on a regular basis to a number of charities and are always pleased to support events like the coffee morning.
“We are delighted that the event raised such a substantial sum towards the valuable work of MacMillan Cancer Support.”
