Harris Lipman set for another year of growth

Harris Lipman are looking forward to continued growth and expansion in 2008 after welcoming three major new clients to the firm.

They are ASP Packaging Ltd, Redrose and Trevor Philip & Sons Ltd. Watford-based flexible packaging specialist ASP, whose clients include suppliers to Asda, Sainsbury’s and Tesco, switched to Harris Lipman to carry out its audits, from one of the UK’s leading accountancy practices, because it wanted a closer, more personal relationship with its auditor.

ASP finance director Bob Beazley said that a presentation by Harris Lipman partner Martin Atkins had stood out in a “beauty parade” of practices and that the way the firm conducted its first audit for ASP had reinforced those positive first impressions.

Watford-based Redrose, which works across the UK on property refurbishment, restoration and damage management projects, switched to Harris Lipman after feeling that it was losing touch with the company’s original accountants when it was taken over by a larger firm.

Head of accounts Sue Graham said Redrose selected Harris Lipman from a number of firms because it offered expert business advice as well as traditional accountancy services. She added: “We don’t want to be with a huge firm – we want to be with someone who knows us as a business and can help us to grow, and we believe Harris Lipman can do that.”

Antique experts Trevor Philip & Sons, of Jermyn Street, London, specialise in collectors’ items including globes and naval binoculars. After many years with a previous accountant, managing director Saf Waterman felt the company needed fresh ideas and was impressed by the “dynamism” of Harris Lipman senior partner Barry Lewis.

He said: “It was a very smooth transition and the relationship is going exceptionally well. Without a doubt, this move will kick-start our business development.”
