Harris Lipman award winner chooses hospice for £1,000 windfall
03/01/2008
Harris Lipman have announced the latest winner of a prestigious in-house
award, chosen by the votes of colleagues.
Each year, the firm presents the Solomon Lipman Award –- named
after its founder – to the person whom co-workers consider to
have demonstrated the most exceptional performance. This year, they
voted for senior audit manager Russell Whitlock, who said: “I
was really touched. It is quite a special thing to have won the Solomon
Lipman Award.”
Comments from colleagues nominating Russell included “loyal,
conscientious and hard-working”, “a true friend”, “a
leader”, “very patient with trainees” and “an
all-round nice guy”.
Russell, who joined the firm four-and-a-half years ago, says his approach
is to put every possible effort into his work. He says: “That
is very much the philosophy of the firm and I will continue to do what
I have always done, and hopefully set a good example.”
Harris Lipman donates £1,000 to a charity or charities nominated
by the winner, in recognition of their achievement. Russell chose Barnet-based
Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, which supports life-limited
children and their families in North London and South Hertfordshire.
He said: “I wanted the charity to be local and I have a terminally
ill relative, so that was in the forefront of my mind. It seemed to
me that children in a similar situation need all the help available.”
Martin Atkins, partner, said: “Russell represents many of Harris
Lipman’s core values, including dedication, consistency and professionalism.
We are delighted that the award has gone to such a worthy winner.”
The award commemorates the hard work and professionalism of Solomon
Lipman, who founded the firm in 1954.
