Accountants Welcome Addiction Treatment Centre as Client

A centre offering innovative day care treatment for addiction has become one of the latest clients to join London Chartered Accountants Harris Lipman.

Charter Day Care, which opened in Harley Street at the end of October, is run by addiction specialists Anthony McLellan and Mandy Saligari. They first met 20 years ago when Anthony, a respected expert in the field with three decades of experience behind him, worked with Mandy to help her conquer her own addictions, which subsequently led to her developing her own successful career in treating addictive behaviour.

Anthony has been a client of Harris Lipman partner Neville Chajet for many years and Neville was a logical choice to act as accountant to Charter Day Care. Mandy and Anthony began talking to him at an early stage in the six-month process of setting up the practice, which has fulfilled a 20-year dream for Mandy.

Mandy, who also has an addiction counselling practice in Kent, said: “We’re a small company, with just three people, so Neville is doing a great deal for us. He knows what he is talking about and, like me, he clearly enjoys the work he does – that passion for your work is attractive and inspiring.”

Interest in Charter Day Care – whose name is an acknowledgement to the Charter Nightingale Hospital in London, where Anthony and Mandy first met – has been encouraging since its launch.

Its day care programme allows clients to undergo treatment for addictions including drink, drugs, food and gambling while maintaining their work and home lives and offers an affordable alternative to residential therapy, at a time when the downturn in the economy is likely to see increased numbers of people turning to addictive behaviour, like drinking and drug taking, as a “quick fix” escape from financial pressures.
