Harris Lipman contribute to National Youth Theatre 50th anniversary celebrations

28/11/2006

Harris Lipman recently enjoyed a highly entertaining evening at the National Youth Theatre’s (NYT) spectacular 50th anniversary gala.

Specialists in accounting for clients in the theatre industry, the leading firm shares a long established working relationship with the nationally acclaimed organisation. Avid supporters of the NYT, the Harris Lipman team supported the event and enjoyed exclusive tables from which to watch the superb evening’s entertainment.

Held at the Battersea Park Events Arena, the prestigious black tie event began with a champagne reception and entertainment, followed by dinner and a show by the theatre’s own youth cabaret. Then much to the audience’s delight, one of the theatre’s finest success stories and the current top comedy duo in the UK, Matt Lucas and David Walliams of comedy act Little Britain dropped by and stole the show with an hilarious 30 minute performance. Plus, to add the final touch to the fine itinerary, attendees also enjoyed dancing and carriages after midnight.

Barry Lewis, senior partner at Harris Lipman comments: "As a firm deeply rooted in the theatre industry, we have always taken a great interest in the NYT as one of the best youth theatre organisations in the UK, if the not the world. We were extremely excited to attend the event to honour the organisation’s significant and unsurpassed contribution to British theatrics and the acting industry over the last 50 years.

"The evening was naturally a huge success and thoroughly enjoyable, a particular highlight would have to be the Little Britain sketch which to watch live is a truly hilarious experience. We wish the NYT another fifty years of a similar level of success."

Established in 1956, the NYT has since developed into the UK’s premiere youth arts organisation, providing theatrical training to children aged between 13-21 from a diverse range of backgrounds. Over the years the prestigious theatre has developed a whole host of top British acting talent including Helen Mirren, Orlando Bloom, Daniel Day-Lewis and current James Bond star Daniel Craig.

The 50th anniversary celebrations helped to raise over £85,000 for the NYT charity, which funds the provision of accessible opportunities for a diverse range of young people in the UK, particularly children from the most disadvantaged backgrounds. Harris Lipman donated a prize of two seats at their exclusive Tottenham Hotspur football club box, which generated an impressive £800.
