Enterprise Investment Scheme Association

Harris Lipman LLP are now members of the Enterprise Investment Scheme Association (EISA). This is an organisation which fulfils a much needed role encouraging private investment into small and growing companies and fostering the innovative entrepreneurial spirit that drives private enterprises.
The Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) is designed to make investments in small, high risk companies more attractive. Usually the companies who have qualified for the EIS scheme are small unquoted trading companies issuing new shares to finance their trading activities. The EIS is a government scheme that provides a range of tax reliefs for investors who subscribe for qualifying shares in qualifying companies.
Due to the current lending restriction imposed by banks, EIS is now being looked at as an alternative way to raise finance. In addition, an investment in an EIS gives rise to income tax and capital gains tax relief.
The members of the EISA have access to a Counsel of experts in their individual fields, this includes the Tax and Technical Committee who deal with consultations on technical issues in particular regarding the rules of the scheme and are a key participant in discussions on proposed changes for new legislation.
Membership of EISA, gives access to other members including sponsors, promoters, fund managers, corporate finance advisors and gives us an advantage in that we have access to a pool of knowledge and potential sponsors.
If you need our assistances with EIS, please do contact us.
