“The tax refund is welcome...”

Specialist publishing house Datateam is well-known in the magazine world for producing a wide range of business to business and other publications, with the capability to carry out all aspects of magazine production in-house.

Having previously been audited by a ‘top ten’ firm, Datateam switched to Harris Lipman from 2009, as they were able to provide a similar service for around £10,000 less per year – but that was just the start of their savings.

When carrying out an audit for the first year of figures, Harris Lipman spotted that the company had not been claiming tax relief on certain tangible assets – a point missed by the previous auditors.

With Harris Lipman’s help, Datateam submitted a claim for the back tax to HM Revenue and Customs, resulting in a £40,000 refund for Datateam which was received about a year later and more than covered the first year’s audit fee.
